Pier Installation Process

How Summerset Marine installs a permanent pier — from consultation and engineering to permitting and construction on your Wisconsin shoreline.

From Consultation to Design

It starts on your shoreline. During the site visit we measure water depth, evaluate bottom composition, and assess wave and ice exposure — the factors that drive how a permanent structure must be engineered. We design a system for your specific site: configuration, deck layout, lift placement, and materials. No catalog packages — every design is built around the lake bed it will stand on.

Permitting and Engineering

Wisconsin DNR regulation applies to piers and shoreline structures, and requirements vary by size, shoreline, and local rules. We assess what your project needs and manage the applications. While permitting proceeds, fabrication begins at our Whitewater facility — we control quality from raw material to finished structure. Your installation is not waiting on a third-party supplier.

Construction and Final Walkthrough

Installation is performed by our own crews with purpose-built marine equipment. Footings are set to the engineered plan, the structure goes up level and true, and lifts and accessories are installed and tested. Before we leave, we walk the finished structure with you — how the lift operates, what seasonal attention the system needs, and who to call with questions. The crew leaves your shoreline clean.
